The survey will remain open through March 8th. https://forms.gle/PCGiePAy9nrC4phy5 MCHS Senior Named Finalist for 2020 National Merit Scholarship Posted On: Thursday, February 20, 2020 Congratulations to Brianna Bryant for advancing to be named a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. Every year around 1.6 million students apply for the scholarship. Only one percent are named finalists, making this a big honor and accomplishment for Brianna. She will be eligible to win one of three types of scholarships. The National Merit Scholarship is a $2,500 single-payment offered on a state-representational basis. Winners are selected without consideration of family financial circumstances, college choice, or major and career plans. Corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarships are designated by the sponsor and may either be renewable for four years of undergraduate study or one-time awards. College-sponsored Merit Scholarships are renewable for up to four years of study and are awarded by sponsor colleges to students who have been accepted and have that school as their first choice. Students who qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program are honored for showing exceptional academic ability. National Merit Scholarship winners will be selected on the basis of their skills, accomplishments, and potential for success in college. Winners will be announced in Spring 2020. Kindergarten and Preschool Registration Dates Announced Posted On: Tuesday, February 11, 2020 The Montgomery County School District has scheduled registration for children who will begin preschool or kindergarten beginning in August 2020. If your child will be 5 years old ‪on or before August 1, 2020, he/she is eligible to register for kindergarten. Registration will be held on Wednesday, April 15 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm and Thursday, April 16 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at each elementary school. If you are unsure of which school your child will attend visit the interactive map and enter your address. Preschool is available at all four MCS elementary schools to children who will be 3 years old and are identified with a developmental delay or disability; and children who will be 4 years old by August 1 who meet federal income eligibility guidelines or are identified with a developmental delay or disability. Preschool is offered in morning and afternoon sessions, Monday through Thursday each week to students who reside in the Montgomery County School District. Free screenings are available to all MCS families with preschool-age children to help determine if there are any educational concerns. Register your preschool student on Friday, April 17 from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm at the Clay Community Center. What do you need to bring? Free ACT Prep Sessions Posted On: Tuesday, February 4, 2020 MCHS will offer free Saturday ACT prep sessions for students who are planning to take the ACT. Each session is 90 minutes long and will begin at 9 AM and end at 12 noon. For more information or to sign up, students will need to see his/her guidance counselor.
